Overview

Dr. Flake and the members of her laboratory are working on developing best practices for the development and use of psychological measures. We are a part of the Quantitative Methods research area in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. We also have an on-going affiliation with McGill University with some of our members located in Montreal.

We conduct applied measurement and modeling research. We are currently working on developing rigorous and transparent research practices for measurement development and use, models for assessing measurement equivalence, handling clustered data structures, and addressing measurement challenges in large-scale replication research. We also often collaborate with others to study students’ achievement motivation and other non-cognitive skills. You can learn more about our recent research here, and the members of the lab here.

We will be reviewing graduate student applications for the Fall 2025 admission. See Join the Lab for more information.
